Course-Specific Questions

EFAW is a 1-day course ideal for low-risk workplaces such as offices and small retail businesses. It covers essential emergency response skills including CPR, choking, and bleeding. FAW is a comprehensive 3-day course required for higher-risk environments such as manufacturing, construction, and warehouses. FAW covers a much wider range of injuries, medical emergencies, and conditions, making it suitable for appointed first aiders in more complex workplaces.

The Paediatric First Aid course is essential for anyone working with babies and young children, including nursery staff, childminders, teaching assistants, after-school club workers, and sports coaches. It is an OFSTED and EYFS requirement that at least one qualified paediatric first aider is present at all times when children are in your care.

Our Schools & Nurseries course is specifically designed for educational settings. It covers paediatric CPR and AED use, choking in infants and children, anaphylaxis and use of an EpiPen, managing head injuries, febrile convulsions, asthma attacks, and dealing with fractures and soft tissue injuries. The course is tailored to real scenarios staff encounter in schools and nurseries.

The COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Awareness course covers the legal requirements under COSHH Regulations 2002, how to identify hazardous substances in the workplace, how to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS), risk assessment for hazardous substances, control measures to reduce exposure, and what to do in the event of an incident involving hazardous materials. It is suitable for all industries where chemicals or hazardous substances are used.

Manual Handling training is required for anyone whose job involves lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling loads. This includes warehouse and logistics staff, care home workers, retail employees, construction workers, and office staff who regularly move equipment or supplies. Under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, employers must provide adequate training to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.

Our Risk Assessment Awareness course teaches participants how to identify workplace hazards, evaluate the level of risk, implement appropriate control measures, and document findings in a legally compliant risk assessment. It covers the 5-step risk assessment process as recommended by the HSE, and is suitable for managers, supervisors, and anyone responsible for health and safety in their workplace.

No prior knowledge or experience is required for any of our courses. All training is delivered in plain, accessible language and is suitable for complete beginners. Our trainer ensures everyone feels comfortable and confident throughout the session, regardless of their background.

Absolutely. Many of our clients combine courses in a single visit — for example, pairing EFAW with Manual Handling, or COSHH Awareness with Risk Assessment. This is a cost-effective way to cover multiple compliance requirements in one day and minimise time away from work for your team.

Yes, we offer refresher courses for all qualifications. First aid certificates are valid for 3 years, and we recommend booking a refresher before expiry to maintain compliance. Refresher courses are shorter in duration than the full course and are a great way to keep skills sharp and up to date.
